Terms of Service for WebSum: AI Blog Summaries
Last updated: 9 October 2026 · Published by six9dev
These terms apply when you use WebSum, the Chrome extension and the related service made by six9dev ("we", "us"). By installing or using WebSum you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use WebSum.
What WebSum does
WebSum summarises articles you choose to summarise, including their images, and shows the summary in Chrome's side panel. Summaries are written by AI models from third-party providers.
Accounts
- You can use WebSum as a guest or sign in with Google.
- You're responsible for activity on your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
Plans, billing and cancelling
- Guest and free use include a limited number of summaries each day.
- WebSum Pro is a subscription billed monthly or yearly in US dollars through Stripe. It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. WebSum Pro is sold by six9dev, not by Google.
- Uninstalling WebSum doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel from "Manage billing", or email us.
- You can cancel any time from "Manage billing" in WebSum. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other consumer protection laws that apply to you.
- You can switch between monthly and yearly billing in WebSum. When you switch, the unused part of your current period is credited, the new period starts straight away, and Stripe shows the exact amount before you confirm.
- If we change Pro's price, we'll tell you before it applies to your next renewal.
- Founding members, who subscribe at the launch price of US$10 a month or US$90 a year, keep that price for as long as their subscription stays active, even if Pro's price rises later. If you cancel and subscribe again, the price at that time applies.
Fair use
Pro includes a daily limit and a monthly fair-use allowance. After a very busy month, summaries switch to a faster model, and they may pause until the next month. The account screen in WebSum shows how much of the allowance you've used.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use scripts, bots or automation to request summaries, or try to get around limits;
- attack, overload, reverse engineer or resell the service;
- use WebSum to break the law or anyone else's rights;
- summarise content you aren't allowed to share with third-party AI providers, such as confidential work documents.
To protect your privacy, WebSum refuses to read private apps such as email, documents, chats and AI assistants (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
Busy periods
To keep WebSum running affordably, we set a monthly limit on AI processing across the whole service. If WebSum gets very busy, free and guest summaries may pause until the next month before Pro summaries are affected.
AI summaries can be wrong
Summaries are generated automatically and can be incomplete or inaccurate. Each point links to the paragraph it came from, so check the original article before relying on a summary, and don't use summaries as professional (for example legal, medical or financial) advice.
Content
The articles you read belong to their publishers. Summaries are for your personal use. You're responsible for how you share them.
Privacy
How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Availability and changes
We work to keep WebSum available, but it may sometimes be interrupted, and features may change. We may update these terms; if a change matters to you, we'll tell you in WebSum or by email before it takes effect.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, WebSum is provided "as is", and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This doesn't exclude any liability that can't be excluded by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
